Before doing anything else, we need to set up the
grid, so click on File/Preferences/General and then on Guidelines
and Grid. Set the horizontal and vertical spacing to10 pixels. Snap
tolerance 1 pixel. |
|
Open a new plain white RBG image with a width of 400
pixels and a height of 250 pixels, then click on the ruler at the
bottom righthand side of your screen. Click on grid and then on
snap to grid. |
|
Select Path Drawing Tool, Shape Square, 3D Round any
colour of your choosing. Draw a square in the top lefthand corner
5 grid spaces x 5 |

At this point you will need to open the Path Panel
box if it isn't already open and alter the border setting to 5.
If you don't see the Path Panel box in front of you, then click
on the icon in the attributes bar to open it.

|
Click on Web/Button Designer/Any Shape and select
the 2nd button from the left on the 8th row down. Alter the bevel
size to 10, the bevel smoothness to 0 and be sure that the light
angle is at 135 and the elevation is at 40. |
|
Duplicate your square 7 times and arrange them along
the top of your grid. Whilst holding the ctrl key down, select each
square and then right click, select align/center vertically. Whilst
all squares are still selected, right click on your mouse and select
to merge as a single object. Then right click again to duplicate
the row. Duplicate 4 times and arrange one row below the other to
cover your grid area. You can now remove your grid just the same
way you set it up and you should be left with a tiled image similar
to mine as shown on the left here. |
|
Find an object or stamp that you'd like to use and place it on
your tiles. Right click on it and select properties and then in
the drop down merge box select multiply. Add text to your image
and multipy in the same way.
*Note* If the merge multiply doesn't
look too good used on your chosen stamp, object or text, then
you might find the merge Overlay will be an improvement.

Click on Format/Expand Canvas by 5 pixels the colour
of your own choosing. Be sure to expand all sides equally.
Right click on your mouse and select to Merge All.
Go to Web/Image Optimizer to save your image as a .jpg.
That's it, you're tile banner or heading is finished. I hope
you enjoyed this tutorial :-)
