A background tile is something we all need from time to time so I'll show you here how to make one very quickly using only PhotoImpact gradient fills which turns out perfectly tiled every time.

This tutorial was written for PI 7, but should also work just as well in PI 6.

My terms of use for this tutorial are simple....What you create using this tutorial is yours to do with as you please. A link back to this tut is appreciated but is not a requirement. The tutorial itself along with the images herein are copyrighted to me and all rights are reserved.

Start by opening a new RGB White canvas with a width of 100 pixels and a height of 100 pixels.

Click on Edit/Fill Then click on the gradient tab. Use either of the first two fill types and select to fill your canvas with a multiple colour....I chose to use fill number 010 for this tutorial, but any of the muliple colour fills work just as well.

1. Right click to select All.

2. Right click again to Convert to Object.

3. Click on Edit/Rotate & Flip/Rotate Left 90 degrees.

4. Right click on your newly rotated fill and select Properties.

5. Choose a merge in the dropdown box and see how it effects your tile....there's sure to be one you like.

6. When you're satisfied with your new tile, right click to merge all and then save it.

On the left here, you can see how different merges used on the 010 multiple colour fill turned out.

I hope you've enjoyed this short tutorial and that it's given you the incentive to experiment with other types of quick merge tiles :-)
