Create A Fishing Rod
In PI 6

This is the picture that inspired the making of this tutorial. I'm sure left to your imagination, you can find something much nicer to hook than a picture of Medussa!

Open a new canvas 400x400. Using the Line & Arrow Tool, set at 3D, a brown colour, with a width of 3, a straight Style and with no Arrow, draw a diagonal line not quite the reaching the corners of your canvas.
Right click on the line you've just drawn and select Edit Path. Then left click in the center of path line (it will turn red in colour), and click on the Convert Line to make it bend.
Now click on the transform distort tool and pull the top right point towards the left to slightly lessen the curve.

Using the Path Drawing Tool, rounded rectangle shape, 3D, draw a black handle to go at the base of your fishing rod. After deselecting your handle change the shape to circle, 3D Custom, with a border 7 and depth 30. Open the Easy Palette, find the material gallery and click on Steel 2 to change the colour. Draw a circle which will represent the reel. Your fishing rod should now look something similar to the one in this diagram.
Using the outline drawing tool, 3D draw a small ellipse shape. Whilst it is still selected, right click and duplicate it 4 times. Space these along the spine of your fishing rod.

To make the handle of the reel you need to select the Path Drawing Tool, colour black, draw a small rectangle shape. Click on the transform perpective tool to alter it's shape to that of a triangle and then draw a small ellipse shape. Join together as shown in the diagram and place with the point at the center of the reel.

Using the Line & Arrow Spline tool with very pale grey colour, with a width of 1, draw plain line using little clicks of your mouse that runs from the top of the reel, through each of the rods eyes and then a length off the tip of the rod that goes down to about the level of the reel. Double click in the same place when you've finished to make your line.
With the line still active erase small parts of it so that it looks like the line actually goes through the eyes on the rod rather than over them. You may prefer to magnify your image to 300% or more to do this as it's a little fiddly. After you've done that I suggest you right click to select all objects and then right click again to merge as a single object.

You're ready to make a float for your rod now, so with the Path Drawing Tool selected, using a 2D and a nice bright colour, draw a small rounded rectangle. Using the Transform Tool, alter the perspective of it so that the top is slightly wider than the bottom and then rotate it and slide into position on your fishing line. With the float still selected, click on Convert/Convert Object Type/From Path to Image and then use the paintbrush with transparency 0 and soft edge 0, paint the bottom 3/4 of your float black.

Using the Path Drawing Tool make a very small bright coloured 3D bead and duplicate it. These need to be positioned one just above the float and the other just below. Then you need to create another 3D circle which is a little larger and silver or dark grey in colour for the weight which is potitioned just below the bottom bead. Lastly we need a hook, so using the Line & Arrow Spline with width 1; Style stright line and no Arrow, make little clicks to shape a small hook remembering to double click at the end. Make a tiny little oval shape using the Outline Drawing Tool for the eye of the hook. Select the eye and the hook itself and merge as a single object then position at the bottom of your fishing line. Select all objects and merge as a single object.

Well done, you have just made an impressive looking fishing rod with hook, line and sinker! I'll leave it to your imagination as to what you're going to do with it :-)
