Description: You've taken what you consider to
be a great photograph, but when you get home and take a closer look
you notice it's not quite the colour that you imagined...What a shame!
PhotoImpact can fix the nasty flaw, so don't thow the photo out, just
follow the directions in this easy to follow tutorial and your photograph
will magically appear perfect. Practice using the photograph
provided and then you'll know how Colour Cast works and will be
able to fix your own photos in future.

Start by clicking on this
link. Holding down a left click of your mouse over the photograph
provided, simply drag it off the web page it's on, directly into
PI. |

Click on Fromat/Color Cast
|

Using a dual view window, you'll see the source image on the
left side, but may need to click on 1:1 to get a closer view.
Use the dropper to sample a neutral colour from the source image.
The red spot on the source image shows exactly where I clicked.
After clicking, notice the position of the biggest spot on the
colour wheel.

Hold your cursor over the biggest spot in the colour wheel until
it changes to a crosshair. Click down on the left mouse button
and drag that spot toward the center of the wheel.
You will see the changes made to the original photo in the right-hand
preview screen. The corrected colour will also change as will
the hue and saturation numbers.
When you're happy that your photo has now been corrected, click
OK so that the changes can take effect.

The image is now looking pretty good and a lot closer to the
colour that I remember it being when I took the photograph, but
it still needs a little more work done on it to brighten it up
a bit.
Click on Format/Highlight Midtone Shadow.

For this particular photo, choose the settings: Highlight 24;
Midtone -10 and leave the shadow setting at 0.
Click on OK.

That's all there is to it. The photograph has now been corrected
and now looks nice and sharp too!
Now you know how easy it is to correct the colour of a photograph,
rather than throw out those flawed photographs you've taken, have
a go at correcting them with the magic of colour cast. I'm sure
you won't be disappointed!
