Simple Spikey Stationery

Making stationery for Outlook Express is something I've never really gotten into and yet every now and then, I do like to make something quick and easy that can be used for stationery. This tutorial came about through experimentation in PI and the results I got from that experiment proved to be perfect, quick and easy stationery material.

To make this spikey stationery you will need a framed image (size of the image doesn't matter), you're welcome to use one of mine if you wish which can be downloaded from Here. You will also need the MuRa's Meister Pole Transform Filter which is free and can be downloaded from Here.

Please refer to this tutorial should you need help with installing plugins into PhotoImpact.

Open your chosen framed image in PI and go to Effect/MuRa's Meister/Pole Transform and with Sphere selected in the dropdown box enter these settings: Y start - 0; Y end - 200; Center X - 100; Center Y - 100; Radius start - 0; Radius end - 248; Angle - 0. Be sure that Inverse and Fill Background are checked before clicking on OK.

At this point you may want to Edit/Rotate & Flip/Rotate Left 90 degrees if you plan to make a stat with a side border rather than a top one. This tutorial will continue with making a top border stationery. Whatever you decide to do, you will need to crop your image to take out some of the white area and you will find this much easier to do if your canvas is open fully.

Go to Web/Image Optimizer and save your spikey image as a .jpg

Open Outlook Express. Click on the little triangle by the side of New Mail and then on Select Stationery. Click on the Create New button and then on Next. Browse to your saved spikey image, be sure that you Position Top Center; Tile Horizontally and then choose a colour that you would like below your image if you wish. Click on Next.

In the next window select your preferred font settings and in the window after that, enter suitable margin values for your text. Click on next and you will be given the option to name your new stat and then click on Finish.

Click on OK and your new stationery is ready to use.

I hope you enjoyed this simple spikey stat tutorial :-)
